Follow the steps below to update firefox in Red Hat Linux
- First download the latest firefox rpm or tar file for red hat Linux
- Backup your old firefox
To backup your firefox follow the steps
below
copy the old firefox directory from lib directory
i.e., graphically computer\file system\usr\lib\firefox
- Go to Applications
- Add/Remove Software
- Package Manager dialog box opens
- Select search
- Type firefox to find
- Select radio button of Installed packages
- Click on search
- Result will display the installed firefox package in your system
- Now uncheck the check box against the installed firefox package
- Click on apply.
Your old firefox is removed from your
system. Now you need to install the latest
firefox in your system. To install it just follow the below steps :::
- Go to the tar firefox file
- Write click on it and select Extract Here
- Now copy the extracted firefox directory to computer\file system\usr\lib
- Open copied firefox directory
- now run the firefox file not the
- your new firefox will be installed in a few seconds.
