Virender Sehwag Scored 219 Runs in One Day Cricket

The stand-in captain Virender Sehwag, the Sultan of Najafgarh (Southern part of New Delhi) scored 219 runs and surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's highest individual score in One Day International (ODI) cricket against West Indies in the fourth match in a 5 match series.

Sachin Tendulkar created history on February, 2010 scoring 200 not out against South Africa in Gwalior. He faced 147 balls to score 200 not out and hits 25 fours and 3 sixes. The jam packed Holkar Stadium, Indore witnessed this remarkable achievement of Sehwag in One Day Cricket. He reached the 200 milestone when he square-cut Andre Russell for a boundary in the 44th over of the Indian innings. He faced 140 balls and hit 23 fours and 6 sixes in his 200 milestone. He slammed 25 fours and 7 sixes during his 149 ball blitz to 219 runs.

There is a proverb about Virender Sehwag, once he get going no bowler in the world can stop him. Even in his bad days he never leave any bowler without punish. He was dropped by Caribbeans captain Darren Sammy, who had let slip the dolliest of chances when he was on 170.

The remarkable achievement gives Virender Sehwag the unique distinction of being India's top scorer in both One Day International and Tests Cricket. He had scored 319 runs against South Africa in 2008 in Chennai Test.
