Start filling W-8 BEN form

W-8BEN form has four section and affiliate has to fill the necessary fields very carefully.

1. Identification of Beneficial Owner
2. Claim of Tax Treaty Benefits
3. Certification
4. Signature

1. Identification of Beneficial Owner
Let's start filling the W-8BEN form with your name, Country, Permanent Residence, Mailing Address. Till this point everything looks very simple and you can easily fill all these fields. Read also : How to make your blog Push Notification ready.

The most confusional part arrives after that when you see various fields like SSN (Social Security Number), ITIN, Foreign Tax Identifying Number, Reference number(s). Now you are confused what to fill in these fields. Since you are not a US person, you don't have SSN, ITIN, Foreign Tax Identifying Number and Reference number(s). Believe me leave all the fields SSN, ITIN, Foreign Tax Identifying Number, Reference number(s) blank.  No need to enter anything in these fields.

Earlier there is another field which EIN (Employer Identification Number) where affiliate has to enter 9 zeros (000000000) but  currently Bluehost updated tax form and removed that field. Read also : How to get 100GB Google drive space.

Claim of tax treaty benefits

In the section no need to enter anything. Just leave all the fields blank and proceed to Certification.

Here you just need to select the checkbox against "Yes, I have read and acknowledge the certification".

This is almost the final section of the W-8 BEN form. Now you need to sign the tax form. In the Signature of beneficial owner field just type your name which acts as your signature. Date is auto filled. Leave "Capacity in which acting" field blank and click Submit tax form. Read also : Boost AdSense earning by blocking low paying ads.
Once you have submitted the tax form, you can't modify the tax form. It will take couple of days to verify your submission.
