Google Pay for Money Transfer, Recharge and Utility Bill Payments

The tech giant Google has launched its payment app "Google Pay" for android on Play Store and for iOS on App Store today to make a foray into mobile payment sector. Google Pay app is very similar to Indian Government's BHIM app. The app allows users to make financial transactions like sending or receiving payments directly into the bank account as well as allows users to pay utility bills. The app allows user to pay using phone number, account number, QR code or UPI (Unified Payments Interface) ID.

Since Google Pay is UPI based payments app therefore to make payments like send money or receive money users must have to link their bank account to Google Pay over UPI and then transfer money instantly. How to Use Google Pay App

Android users can download Google Pay app from Google Play Store and iOS users can download it from App Store. After installation, it asks your phone number to very the account through SMS.

After successfully verified, the app asks you to enter Google PIN for additional security. Users can also their pattern lock or finger print for another layer of security. Once you did the above steps the app is ready to use. Read also : How to add WhatsApp sharing button to your blog/website.

How to Add Bank Account to Google Pay

After installation and generation of  Google PIN users need to add their bank account with Google Pay to make transactions like transfer fund or receive payments from some one. To add bank account users need to tap +ADD BANK ACCOUNT located just below your profile name. After that tap add account number to verify your account through sms which cost depending on your tariff plan.

Once you verified your mobile number, tap proceed button and the you will able to see your account. If your mobile number is linked with multiple account, all the account details will be displayed. Select the desired account and enter the last six digit of the ATM / Debit card and expiry date. If your ATM does not have expiry date just enter 0149 and tap proceed button. Once your account is linked with Google Pay, you are able to send and receive money using this app.

Steps to Transfer Money with Google Pay

In this steps I am going to show you how to transfer money using Google Pay application to a person who does not use this application. I make a video for how to transfer money using Google Pay.  Watch the video

Step 1. At first launch Google Pay application on your mobile phone and then tap on New or Pay using phone or account number or UPI ID.
Step 2. After launching Google Pay application, tap on Account Number. Read also : How to stop WhatsApp auto downloading image, audio, video.
Step 3. After that you need to enter the bank details like Recipient name, Account number, IFSC code of the account holder whom you want to send money. After entering recipient details tap on Proceed. Read also : How to decorate text with shadow effects.
Step 4. Now you need to enter the amount that you want to send and then tap on the arrow sign. Before taping on arrow sign, you can type the remarks or leave it blank.
Step 5. Now you just need to tap Proceed to Pay. Once you tap on it, the amount has been transferred to the receiver's account.


Cash mode of Google Pay app allows to transfer money (Pay and Receive) quickly with nearby Google Pay users using the audio instead of sharing phone number. Read also : How to change WhatsApp chat wallpaper.

How to Pay Electricity Bill with Google Pay

Step 1. At first launch Google Pay application on your mobile phone and then tap on New button.

Step 2. Now you need to tap Bill payments.

Step 3. After that tap Electricity

Step 4. Now you need to find out and tap on your electricity board

Step 5. tap Get Started button

Step 6. In this step you have to link your consumer account with Google Pay. This is a one time step. Now you need to provide the Consumer ID and Account name (optional) and then tap on next button. Read also : How to create WhatsApp Group.

Step 7. Once your account is linked, you will able to see the bill amount.

Step 8. Now tap on Pay bill. You can also check your bill details also.

Step 9. Tap on Proceed to pay. If you had linked multiple bank account, then choose the desired bank account and then tap Proceed to pay.

Step 10. Now enter the UPI PIN and then tap right sign button.

How to Recharge DTH with Google Pay


In this step you will learn how to pay electricity bill using Google Pay application. I make a video for how to pay electricity bill using Google Pay. Watch the video

Step 1. At first launch Google Pay application on your mobile phone and then tap on New button.

Step 2. Now you need to tap Bill payments.

Step 3. After that tap DTH (TV)

Step 4. Now you need to find out and tap on your DTH provider

Step 5. tap Get Started button. Read also : How to know who has read your message in a WhatsApp group.

Step 6. In this step you have to link your consumer account with Gogle Pay. This is a one time step. Now you need to provide the Viewing Card Number/Mobile Number and Account name (optional) and then tap on next button.

Step 7. Once your account is linked, you will able to see the bill amount.

Step 8. Now tap on Pay bill. You can also check your bill details also.

Step 9. Tap on Proceed to pay. If you had linked multiple bank account, then choose the desired bank account and then tap Proceed to pay. Read also : How to create ghost button.

Step 10. Now enter the UPI PIN and then tap right sign button.

Earn Rewards

Google Pay users can earn rewards by paying utility bills, mobile recharge and money transfer. Google Pay also allows users to invite friends on Google Pay and rewards of them Rs. 51 when your referral make their first transaction. Users need to follow the steps to share their link.

Step 1. Launch Google Pay app

Step 2. Tap on Offers

Step 3. Again tap the image icon and tap INVITE FRIENDS

Step 4.  Now you need to choose the desired social to share the link.

Users can invite as many people as they want but the offer is limited to 1st April, 2018 and Rs. 9,000/- in a year. For the first week, every payments made above Rs. 50/- will give you a scratch card and if you are lucky you may win a lucky draw of Rs. 1,00,000/-.
